All Change: Tassels on the Tube at LDF14

A true talent and one of the last working trimming weavers in England, Jessica Light produces exquisite, innovative and contemporary passementerie of exceptional quality. Everything is handmade to order in her East London workshop using methods dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries.

During this year’s London Design Festival Light launched two new collections, Temple Gardens and Southside, which feature materials like monofilament, brass, straw, and banana fibre.

Her work continues to surprise and with her unusual chosen venue of Old Street Tube Station the new collections stood on their own for all to see. As ever the collections didn’t disappoint, with her colour palette also offering something new and inspiring. I especially love the purple and talking with Jessica we agreed the colour just goes with anything!

The fascinating world of trims and tassels is gaining momentum once again and with exciting large-scale projects on the horizon, Jessica Light is leading the way and inspiring new and exciting uses of these exceptional makes.
